GSR-26, discussions on new challenges and developments of the digital age

The Global Regulators Forum GSR-26, organized by the International Telecommunication Union and the Information and Communications Technologies Authority of Turkey in Ankara, dedicated a session with the high-level panel, focused on new challenges and developments of the digital age, including artificial intelligence, 6G, space and quantum technologies, as well as the need for a more flexible regulatory framework and broader inter-institutional cooperation.

Ms. Enkelejda Muçaj, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy was part of the panel of this session, while the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority was attending the forum’s proceedings, represented by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Gentian Sala, together with the senior representatives of the International Telecommunication Union, the Universal Postal Union, European regulators and international technology companies.

During the discussions, Ms. Muçaj presented Albania’s developments and priorities in the field of digitalization, as well as the regulatory and technical measures being undertaken in cooperation with the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority and international partners, with the aim of further development this sector and also approximating with the most advanced international standards.

Within the framework of the forum, a meeting was also held with the Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union, Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin attended also by Deputy Minister Enkelejda Muçaj and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority, Mr. Gentian Sala.
