On November 3, 2025, in Tirana, a Dialogue meeting on Reforms for the Development of Digital Infrastructure and the European Union Integration Process, titled “Towards a Gigabit Society”, was held. The event was organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, in cooperation with the Electronic and Postal Communications Authority (AKEP).
The meeting gathered representatives from public institutions, local government, and electronic communications operators, who contributed with proposals and recommendations aimed at enhancing the regulatory framework and advancing the implementation of the Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA) in Albania.
The event took place in the context of Albania’s ongoing efforts to align with European Union standards in the field of digital transformation and the development of high-speed networks, as well as to harmonize the national legal framework with the EU Gigabit Infrastructure Act (GIA).
In their opening remarks, representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and AKEP underlined the importance of strengthened interinstitutional cooperation in implementing reforms that support the development of modern digital networks and the establishment of a sustainable digital ecosystem, in line with the priorities of the EU integration process.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the Reform Agenda for Digital Infrastructure, the final benchmarks of Chapter 10 – “Digital Transformation and Media”, as well as key aspects of the legal and regulatory framework for broadband development in Albania.
The meeting concluded by emphasizing the necessity of continued cooperation between public institutions and the private sector to promote the development of an advanced, inclusive, and EU-aligned digital society.
